Post solo transatlantic cruise (NY to Southampton) on Royal Caribbean’s Anthem of the Seas My post cruise journey was from Southampton England to Boston, MA via London England, Holyhead Wales, Dublin Ireland. The journey included trains, tube, and Ferry during a weekend riddled with labor issues causing a rail strike. I stayed at Hilton Paddington, Trearddur Bay Hotel, and the Hilton Garden Inn at Dublin City Center. Visited the London Eye, Parliament, Paddington Station, Euston Station, Crewes Station, Chester Station, Holyhead Station, St Cybi’s Church, and took the Irish Ferries’ Dublin Swift to Dublin (2+ hours). Then walked around Dublin’s Temple Bar and saw the Samuel Beckett Bridge. Then flew to Boston, MA from Dublin Airport Terminal 2 via Delta Airlines. The walk from Royal Caribbean’s dock to the train station I. Southampton took about 15 minutes. I just asked one of the workers upon exiting the terminal which way to go. Very easy walk. You’ll arrive at the back entrance which is for East and West bound trains so you an enter there and cross over or walk around. Easy station with helpful staff. The train from Southampton to Waterloo Station in London should have taken an hour and a half. However, due to a “signaling malfunction” on the tracks, this trip took about 3 hours. There was a rail strike taking place and the days of the strike fluctuated by station and route. I was able to get to London, but unable to go West to Wales until the following day. When I got on the train the next morning, the train was jammed packed with people who were delayed the day before. Plus there were some big football (soccer) matches going on. Since I thought I couldn’t get on the ferry til the morning, I booked a hotel at the Treaddur Bay hotel in Holyhead. I walked. From the ferry port/train station with my backpack and a medium sized rolling suitcase. I looked for a bus but one never came at the stops I waited at. Next time I’ll ask at the train station about the buses. I didn’t see any taxis but they are there. The hotel booked me one the next morning that I shared with another hotel guest. It cost 12 pounds that we split. I’m thankful to YouTube channel @LoveandLondon for the Oyster card information. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCg9eVnKxw4yNiLLGF2eZ3Zg?sub_confirmation=1 #solocruise #dublin #ferry @RixTrips
