S.S Norway Anthology PT 1

This is a collection of video and photos from the span of over 40 years , this video is a historical record and a memorial to the great liner the S.S Norway / France. In this series we see the launch of the SS France , from her days as a transatlantic liner to her 1st decommissioning and layup in France to her rebirth as NCL's flagship the SS Norway when she was converted for cruising the Caribbean. When she debuted in 1980 she was the largest cruise ship in the world , the crown jewel of the cruising world which thus began a new era in shipbuilding as the competition sought to build bigger passenger ships to rival the Norway. On May 16 1980 she returned to New York for the first time as the re-born SS Norway , she was the largest twin funneled ship to visit New York City and was the largest cruise liner in the world surpassing anything before her. In 1990 she was expanded to increase her passenger capacity to compete with the rising cruise traffic and the growing competition. Here we show the complete list of all the captains who commanded the SS Norway from 1980 Through 2004 as well as rare photos of her arrivals to various ports and destinations .
