In this episode, we take a full walkthrough of Takamaka Rum Distillery, Seychelles' only rum producer, and learn how its rums are crafted from locally grown sugarcane juice and imported molasses. Founded in 2002, the family-owned distillery offers visitors an inside look at the production process, and includes a guided tour of the facility's grounds and history, concluding with an in-depth rum tasting one-on-one with the Master Blender. An addendum to the Barrel Repair section: “Besides barrel aged blends, rums soaked with spices, they also experiment with soaking of wood chips and fines as an innovative way of creating natural color and oaky flavor in some of their products like Extra Noir and Rum Zenn. Here they have recycled this waste product that was originally soaked in rum for 8 days, enough time to create a golden aromatic flavor.
