🌪️ TORNADO HITS OUR HOME TOWN IN FORT LAUDERDALE! TWISTER TOUCHES DOWN NEAR US! SEVERE STORM ALERTS

On Sunday, January 7th, 2024, Fort Lauderdale experienced a brief but intense tornado that touched down shortly before 6:00 PM. The twister, which formed over land near the Intracoastal Waterway, west of Las Olas, tracked northeastward towards State Road A1A, impacting the Rio Vista and Las Olas Isles neighborhoods. Though classified as an EF-0 tornado with winds between 60 and 80 mph, the storm caused localized damage, snapping tree limbs, downing power lines, and sending debris flying. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. The National Weather Service in Miami quickly deployed a team to survey the affected areas and assess the extent of the damage. The Fort Lauderdale tornado served as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of Florida's weather, even during the dry season.
