Khortitsa built a Cossack Museum and, following that, passengers would watch a Cossack Horsemanship Show. The museum is dedicated to the history of Ukrainian Cossacks. "Cossack" is just a name for a group of people who came to Khortitsa in the 16-17th centuries in response to Tatar raids in Ukrainian lands. By the end of the 16th century, oppression in Poland had turned this area into a liberation struggle, led by Khmelnytsky and later known as the Khmelnytsky Uprising. They did manage for a time to have an independent state.
