For several years mobile apps have taken over the travel industry. Some lines have gone through multiple iterations of apps as the technology and functional needs have evolved. The Virgin Voyages Sailor App launched in 2020 in preparation for the launch of their first Lady ship, Scarlet Lady, but includes functionality for the entire fleet of future ships. Designed to be used by sailors before sailing the app allows access to complete the pre-boarding documents including submitting passport information and a photo. It also allows for planning and booking of excursions and dining as well as viewing the Lineup of activities onboard to help prepare for the voyage. Once onboard the experience expands as it's the primary method for knowing what is going on and managing reservations for shows, dining, and activities. It can also be used to order food to anywhere onboard, control your cabin, and talk to other passengers. On day 1 it's the location sailors turn to for the required muster drill with the video available in the app to watch.
