The Most Expensive Cruise We Have Ever Been On We are back from an 11-night @celebritycruises #celebritybeyond Mediterranean cruise. This cruise visited 9 ports of call in three countries and was the most we have ever paid for a trip. After including flights, the cruise, hotel stays, tours, and excursions, and other add-ons and upgrades, the cruise was over 20K! In this Celebrity Beyond review, we break down everything, from the onboard experiences to the ports of call, so you can see where our money was spent and whether it was a good value. We have sailed on Celebrity Beyond before, so we were familiar with the ship. This cruise cost more than any other cruise we have been on because of our stateroom choice. Since we are not fans of the infinite veranda stateroom, we opted for a sunset veranda. This aft-facing stateroom offers fantastic views despite having a hefty price tag. Also, we did several specialty dinners, with the cruise being nearly two weeks. Some were well worth the upcharges, like Le Voyage and the Fine Cut Steakhouse. Others, like Eden, Raw on 5, and The Rooftop Garden, were a letdown. Celebrity Beyond did deliver when it came to onboard activities and entertainment. We upgraded to the premium drink package to enjoy all the cocktails at the Martini Bar. Not to mention a more comprehensive selection of wine and spirits at other bars and lounges. The Itinerary Most of our tours and excursions were through the cruise line. Given that we wanted to do and see everything, we also tended to book longer and more expensive tours to visit multiple landmarks or destinations in each port of call. Our tour in Santorini, Greece, felt rushed and a tad touristy, but it allowed us to bypass the cable car, which was a bonus. The only island where we booked a private tour was Mykonos. This half-day tour was a great introduction to the island and gave us plenty of time to explore the old town. With our two days in Istanbul, we booked a combo tour that allowed us to see many historic landmarks and explore the modern-day city. Likewise, our small group tour in Kusadasi gave us plenty of time to wander Ephesus's ancient streets but also gave us a chance to stroll the port area. While we had a good time in Athens, we should have booked a tour of the Acropolis, as the rest of our day was not as eventful. But, we saved the best for last with a full day exploring the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii when docked in Naples. Our charamsitica and informative tour guide, Marco, made this excursion even more memorable.
