Should there be a vaccine mandate to cruise? What is the experience for vaccinated and unvaccinated passengers? We go through the different experiences and how some cruise lines are addressing the issues. All that and more in today's cruise line news video, so be sure to check out our cruise line news today. It is so exciting to start seeing cruising resumes in the US. It is the largest cruise market and employs hundreds of thousands of people. There has been a lot of effort to ensure cruising can resume safely. With that comes new protocols and requirements. This is big cruise line industry news as it will directly impact passengers and sailings. There has been a lot of discussion and even lawsuits around the rules and vaccinations. You can’t be mandated to be vaccinated to travel but it will make your experience very different. This cruise line news does not affect you as much if you are vaccinated. Cruising will be very similar to pre covid times. You can attend shows, enjoy meals in restaurants and lounges, and depending on the cruise line there will be times you won't even need a mask. This is a big cruise news update if you are not vaccinated as there are going to be some changes. Firstly not all the cruise lines are allowing unvaccinated guests. You will have to have extra testing at your own expense, and there will be areas you won't be allowed to go to. In US cruise news, medical experts and the CDC have stated that vaccines are crucial to keep cruising safe. We have seen a lot of cruise lines and ports make it mandatory to be vaccinated to cruise. However this is not the case in Florida where they are trying to make it law that you can’t require proof of vaccine. With that being said, Celebrity Cruise Lines has already set sail from Florida having a vaccine requirement for 98% of guests. Royal Caribbean is not requiring vaccines but has brought in different ways to identify if a passenger has been vaccinated or not, if you are you will wear a wristband and if you are not vaccinated your room card will be hole punched. They are then going to have some venues and events that are only for vaccinated guests. Royal caribbean has also stated that guests who are 16 and older and aren't vaccinated will need to take a covid test before, during and after the cruise and will be charged $136 for it. When moving around the ship all passengers will need to wear a mask. At the events just for vaccinated passengers often masks won't be required. Dining will also look different as there will be separate areas for vaccinated and not vaccinated, and people who are unvaccinated will be locked into a set dining time. This is important cruise line news passengers need to know when choosing a cruise line. In more positive cruise line news Celebrity has set sail and was actually the first cruise line to resume sailing from the US, specifically Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale. They have all their crew vaccinated and have at least 95% of guests so they do not need to do the test cruise phase of the CDCs reopening plan. One way they are trying to get around guests being mandated to prove vaccination at port is that if a guest 16 years or older declines to show proof that they are vaccinated then they will be treated like an unvaccinated guest with restrictions and additional costs for testing. If they want to go ashore they will need to be in a celebrity lead excursion or more depending on the local port. We hope that you liked our cruise line news today.
