In the most extreme cases, you can save thousands when you book a guarantee cabin. But they’re not always available and they do come with some risks. Still, I pretty much always book one when it’s available. It means the cruise line will pop you into any cabin that fits the category - you just choose whether that’s an interior, oceanview, balcony, or suite. You have to be prepared to be in the worst spot onboard - somewhere all the way forward where you feel ALL the motion of the ocean for example. Luckily for me, that’s not a bother. Plus in some cases, you’ll even get an upgrade within your category like I just did - finding yourself in a prime location that you didn’t have to pay for! For those of you with specific requirements, I never recommend a guarantee cabin. But for those who can ‘go with the flow’, the saving is worth the risk.
