Hey Cruisers, We are often asked why we like to cruise? Usually the question comes from someone that has never been on a cruise, and we always are happy to elaborate. The truth is we are a family that just loves to travel period. Cruising offers our family some unique and appealing aspects that other vacations don’t. So what are those things? Well, we've put together a little list. Let’s start with the onboard staff. In our dozens of cruise experiences, we’ve always enjoyed getting to know the Staff and crew, particularly our room stewards and dining room staff. Even our little son is on a first name basis by day 3 on most of our journeys. In most cases the service just can't be beat, and cruise ship crews go out of their way to make our vacations special. Usually after dinner there’s either a bill to pay or dishes to wash. Major buzz kill. But, on a cruise there are no dishes or housekeeping. It's no secret that there’s a lot to eat on a cruise. And while I enjoying cooking, it’s nice to put down the spatula for a week or so, and enjoying the pampering. Oh, and, I'm a sucker for those towel animals, and chocolates on my pillow too! Of course, I have to race my son for them these days. Let's face it, my day job is probably a lot like yours - go, go, go...hundreds of phone calls, never ending emails and the constant tug of competing priorities. When we cruise, we unplug. No cell phone, no texting, and no trips to the grocery store ... just pure, uninterrupted family time. Whenever possible we drive to port. That means no chaotic airports or flights to complicate our vacation. I don’t know about you, but if I can avoid flying, I do. We live within driving distance of a few cruise ports, so we full take advantage of our floating vacations. Of course, this limits our itinerary choices and we love a good land vacation now and then, but that leads me to my next point: Cruising is a less expensive way for us to travel. When you factor in what's included on most cruises, it's a terrific value. We haven’t discovered any other way to travel you where meals, transportation and entertainment are included in one price. With a little researching and planning on where we want to splurge, we find that cruises offer the best bang for your vacation buck. For us, seeing so many different places in a single vacation is always exciting. We can hop off the ship, go out adventuring and then head back to the ship with all its creature comforts. And, the next day offers a completely different and new unique adventure. And last but certainly not least. There's nothing like the sound and scent of the wake crashing below our balcony. Cruising is romantic and transports us to a simpler time.
