Ceremonial Naming of the WONDER OF THE SEAS. On December 09 , WONDER OF THE SEAS, Royal Caribbean’s newest Oasis-class cruise ship, was christened in Port Canaveral. Already the selection of the godmother for the ship was extraordinary: Royal Caribbean was looking for a “Wonder Mom”, an extraordinary mother. To find the right godmother, Royal Caribbean launched the #SearchforWonderMom contest on TikTok, which saw 16,000 videos posted and 10.6 billion hashtag views. The search was complete when the cruise line heard the story of Marie McCrea of Pennsylvania, the story of a devoted mother, wife and cancer survivor whose spirit inspired her family and those around her to embark on adventures and despite the difficulties, they experienced to enjoy every moment together. .On December 9th, Royal Caribbean executives and teams, families, friends, travel advisors, cruise line partners and more gathered aboard what is currently the world’s largest cruise ship to celebrate the ship’s naming ceremony at the AquaTheater. In the venerable role of Godmother, Marie McCrea gave the WONDER OF THE SEAS, her crew and the millions of families who will leave lifelong memories on board for the years to come. On stage with Marie were Royal Caribbean Group President and CEO Jason Liberty, Royal Caribbean International President and CEO Michael Bayley, and their daughter Allie, who had nominated her mother for the role of Godmother as part of a nationwide search. The WONDER OF THE SEAS (IMO 9838345) was built at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint Nazaire, France, and handed over to Royal Caribbean on January 27 of this year. The ship is 362 meters long and has a gross tonnage of 235,600. She can accommodate up to 6,988 passengers. 0:00 Intro 0:35 Godmother Marie McCrea 0:50 ceremonial naming ceremony 1:45 arrival of Master of the WONDER OF THE SEAS 1:57 arrival Royal Caribbean Group President + CEO Jason Liberty + Godmother Marie McCrea 2:22 arrival Royal Caribbean International President + CEO Michael Bayley @alliemccreary7023 2:51 speech Michael Bayley 3:31 speech Jason Liberty 4:12 christening of the WONDER OF THE SEAS 4:49 Time lapse: champagne bottle smashing 5:02 aearial views Video Footage: Royal Caribbean #wonderots #wonderoftheseas #wondermom #royalcaribbean
