We are flying Lufthansa Business Class from Frankfurt to Buenos Aires, a truely luxurious and comfortable experience from start to finish. From the moment you step into the premium lounge at Frankfurt Airport, you're greeted with a relaxing space, some good cuisine, and a selection of drinks. Once on board, the spacious seating and attentive cabin crew ensure a relaxing journey across the Atlantic, allowing us some time to sleep so that we arrive in Buenos Aires feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. So much so that we then decided to do a briefly explore of the area near the hotel. One of the first places we set out to explore was the renowned Galerias Pacifico Shopping Mall. This historic shopping center, located in the heart of the city, offers a mix of high-end boutiques, international brands, and local artisans. Whether in search of fashion, jewellery, or souvenirs, Galerias Pacifico provided a superb retail therapy experience within a stunning architectural setting, although we didn't buy a lot we enjoyed looking!! . We also took a stroll through Plaza General San Martín, a picturesque green space that pays homage to Argentina's military history. We admire the elegant monuments and lush gardens while soaking in the tranquil atmosphere of this beloved urban oasis. One of these was the Monument to the Liberator Don Jose de San Martin, a towering statue dedicated to the country's iconic independence hero.and that prompted us to learn about San Martin's pivotal role in securing freedom for Argentina and three other South American nations. We came across the Monument to the Fallen in Malvinas, honouring those who lost their lives in the Falklands War. We also took in a number of beautiful building which underpin the rich cultural heritage and past wealth of Buenos Aires by visiting landmarks such as Palacio San Martin, Círculo Militar, and Museo de la Diplomacia Argentina Palacio San Martin, each offering unique insights into the city's past and present. Finally, we cap off our day with a visit to Florería Atlántico, a hidden gem known for its innovative cocktails and speakeasy ambiance, where we were able to toast to an unforgettable travel day and enjoy some superb and well owned food. We start our Antarctica bucket list adventure travelling from London Heathrow to Frankfurt on Lufthansa, the first leg of before we take our 14 hour international flight to Buenos Aires. This has a much more respectable takeoff time as we leave the UK at 16:00hrs. We still come up the day before and stay in a hotel overnight. This one is the Hilton Garden Inn at Heathrow Airport which is the one that is not located at terminal 2 but on the perimeter road. We got a good deal and buying the hotel and parking as a package. We can take it easy during the day and then wend a leisurely way to the terminal in the afternoon which will be nice. Fortunately our travel agent but us a superb deal which means that we get business class return so we will have the opportunity to use the lounges and hopefully get some sleep in Lufthansa's bed seats. On this vlog we get as far as Frankfurt with the second leg in the next vlog! We made a bucket list of places we wanted to visit and Joanne's choice was Antarctica it is a continent that she has always wanted to see but no way was she ever going to go in a zodiac so when we found a scenic Antartica cruise we just had to go. So we booked a cruise with Celebrity Cruises adding on some hotel days at the start and end of the holiday to explore Buenos Aires. So on this adventure we explore on our own and we also take ship excursions to maximise our time and experience. We're never too old to keep exploring, so please join us.
