While docked in Callao, Peru, we traveled into Lima, Peru for a special tour titled “Lima: Then and Now.” This excursion gave us a rare opportunity to step inside two very different private homes — each representing a distinct chapter of Lima’s history and culture. 🏛️ Then — A 500-Year-Old Colonial Mansion Near Lima’s historic Plaza de Armas, we visited an extraordinary 500-year-old grand residence located right along the city streets. This magnificent home features stunning colonial architecture, intricate design details, beautiful artwork, and a peaceful interior courtyard. Even more remarkable, the home is still owned and maintained by the 17th generation of the same family — a powerful connection to Lima’s past. 🏡 Now — Casa Luna Museum in Miraflores Next, we traveled to the modern district of Miraflores to visit the home of the Luna Elias-Polo family, known as the Casa Luna Museum. This private residence houses an extensive and fascinating collection of Niños Manuelitos (Nativity scenes) — handcrafted pieces gathered from across Peru and around the world. The collection reflects faith, artistry, and cultural heritage, and is often featured in Lima lifestyle and cultural tours. This excursion truly lived up to its name, showing us both the historic elegance and modern cultural richness of Lima.
