http://www.TravelsWithSheila.com A tour of the second level in Livadia Palace is devoted to the family apartments belonging to the last Tsar of Russia; Nicholas II, wife Alexandra (Alix of Hesse), his four daughters and one son, Alexei, all of whom spent their summers here. It was interesting that throughout the tour, guide Olga never referred to Alexandra's relationship with infamous Rasputin, whom she believed had mystical powers. Known as the White Palace because it was constructed of native limestone, the rooms were beautifully decorated with wood carvings and marble.
