DECEMBER, 2013 http://www.TravelsWithSheila.com Most travelers come to Easter Island on a 4 day/3 night package, as did we and then explore the exact same sights in the exact same order. We selected Hotel O'Tai in the center of Hanga Roa for our stay. Exclusive and uber expensive hotels are Altiplanico and Explora; both of whom include all sights, guides and food in their rates but we were very happy at O'Tai, convenient to all restaurants. And only five minutes from the airport! Easter Island is 3,700 kilometers/2,300 miles west of South America and the only other way to access by air is from Tahaiti. Occasional cruise lines do include Easter Island in their itineraries. Why visit? For the incredible Maoi (stone statues).
