Hidden in plain sight in the heart of Vaucluse lies one of Sydney’s most beautiful and best-kept secrets. Join us for a continuous, sunny morning walk through the grounds of the historic Strickland House estate and down to the secluded sands of Milk Beach. The Estate Grounds: We start by wandering the sprawling lawns of Strickland House. While the grand 1850s Victorian Italianate mansion isn't open to the public, the grounds offer a fascinating glimpse into Sydney’s past. Stables & History: We explore the former stables and the outbuildings from its days as a convalescent hospital, sharing the stories of how this site has evolved over the last 170 years. The Secret Cove: From the estate, we head down to Milk Beach. Since it’s low tide, we’re able to scramble around the rocks to discover a hidden cove that feels miles away from the city. Incredible Views: Throughout the walk, we take in what we think are the absolute best, unobstructed views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the city skyline. We spent years living nearby in Vaucluse, yet it still amazes us how quiet this spot remains. We talk about why it’s never crowded, the "hidden" nature of the Hermitage Foreshore track, and why this is our go-to spot for a peaceful harbour moment. It’s a fun, informative, and completely continuous stroll. Did you know that Strickland House was actually used as the filming location for "Government House" in the movie Australia? It really does look like it belongs in a Hollywood epic! #walking #australia #travel Follow us on socials. https://www.instagram.com/twogalsandagimbal/ https://www.tiktok.com/@twogirlsandagimbal/
