http://www.TravelsWithSheila.com The old Bryggen wharf area in Bergen is filled with restaurants, shops and houses that are a reminder of the Hanseatic League's trading empire from the 14th to the mid-16th centuries. This UNESCO World Heritage Site has been completely rebuilt in the same style as then since fire after fire ravaged the old wooden houses. A short walk from the Best Western Hordaheimen, past the big "I" (Information) Office and into the covered fish market to gape at a gigantic Monkfish head and huge cod that can weigh up to 60 kilos/120 pounds. Not much time spent walking around since the weather didn't cooperate but still enough to get the flavor of Bergen before heading over to the Hurtigruten pier. Bergen is the start and end point of all their 12-day cruises up the West Coast of Norway and we were eager to begin... Please don't forget to Subscribe Share and like. Thanks.
