Disney Vacation Club can be confusing. In this video, I talk about some of the basic things you should know when you are just getting started with DVC. How many points do you have to buy to get started? Why should you buy directly from Disney Vacation Club instead of the resale market? Do you get any other discounts? Can you use your points to cruise? I also talk about four different vacations that use different amounts of points. Bigger rooms, longer stays, and peak season will cost you more points. Be aware that the DVC website will want to dazzle you with low numbers, but be realistic about the number of points you'll need for your family. Plan the when and where of a vacation, and then look to see how many points that would cost using the points charts (link below). Do that more than once. See a pattern? Then use the online cost calculator to see if purchasing DVC points is realistic for your family. DVC isn't for every family.
