On a recent visit to Great Stirrup Cay - the private island in the Bahamas owned by Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) I was allowed a sneak peek at the construction work currently going on on the Bahamian paradise. During the christening voyage of new cruise ship Norwegian Aqua NCL announced MEGA changes to this island they bought in the Bahamas 50 years ago and this video looks at them all. I'm taken to see what will be: PHASE ONE OF CHANGES - hopefully due to be completed by November 2025 1. A new PIER - yes, the island's finally getting a pier, so guests will no longer need to take a tender 2. A new MEGA POOL - with a swim-up bar, 1k sun beds and a kids play area 3. A new trail/bridge/welcome area PHASE TWO After the above are completed work will begin on a new park on the island (complete with lawn games) and a new hammock area, plus a new private beach club over 18s area near Silver Cover (the exclusive pay-for beach at the far end of the island) I LOVE Great Stirrup Cay and I'm certain that these changes will make the island even BETTER, if that's possible!
