It's my first solo Alaskan adventure, and I'm going on the Portage Glacier cruise! This is a 1-hour cruise aboard the m/v Ptarmigan on Portage lake. Portage glacier is no longer visible from land due to the glacier receding. That's how the lake came to be, believe it or not! I paid $50 for this cruise, and it was about an hour drive out of Anchorage down the beautiful Turnagain Arm. The weather was typical of Alaskan Autumn (chilly and rainy) so I dressed for the weather. I had a wonderful time on this scenic tour, and will definitely be bringing friends and family for this experience when I come back to Anchorage.
