Creator's Key Takeaways

I really enjoyed my time out in Singapore it was nice to see some of the areas a little bit nearer the hotel and see some of the historic buildings as well as Little India itself which was truly vibrant and colorful really good day

I love this area you can wander down some of the side streets and there was some really nice street art there that picked out on the decorations that theed the street itself and it was just a nice place to come

one of the things I love about Singapore and cities in general is when you get the contrast between the modern and the old

the rain at this time had mainly eased off though it was still overcast and threatening to rain again

Embark on a captivating walking tour through the vibrant streets of Singapore, as we explore the rich cultural heritage and diverse neighbourhoods of Little India, Kampong Glam, and Raffles. On our journey we'll encounter a blend of religious landmarks, hidden street art gems and an unusual cacophony of architectures. Our journey begins the neo-Gothic faรงade of the Chijmes complex, which was once a Catholic convent and is now a popular dining and entertainment destination. We pass by the serene tranquility of the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd, historic building such as the Singapore National Museum and interesting contemporary structures such as LASALLE College of the Arts and the School of the Arts Singapore. As we wander through the labyrinthine lanes of Little India, we encounter a kaleidoscope of sights and sounds, from bustling markets selling aromatic spices and fresh produce to ornate Hindu temples resplendent with colourful sculptures and intricate carvings. The Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, with its towering gopuram (entrance tower) adorned with vibrant deities, stands as a testament to the rich cultural and religious diversity of the neighbourhood. Here, vibrant streets are lined with colourful shops and adorned with intricate decorations and street art paintings inviting exploration and discovery. Continuing our journey, we make our way to Kampong Glam, a historic Muslim enclave known for its religious architecture and vibrant street art scene. Here, the iconic Sultan Mosque, with its majestic golden dome a, stands as a beacon of Islamic heritage and spirituality. Nearby is an eclectic mix of boutique shops, cafes, and colourful street art murals, showcasing the creative energy of the neighbourhood. Our walking tour culminates in the historic district of Raffles, where colonial-era buildings stand in stark contrast to the modern skyline. . We made a bucket list of places we want to visit and Steveโ€™s choice was Asia, he loves the continent, enjoys exploring the culture and landscapes. So we booked a cruise with Celebrity Cruises adding on some hotel days at the start and end of the holiday to explore Hong Kong and Singapore. Neither of us have been to the places on this itinerary previously. So on this adventure we explore on our own and we also take ship excursions to maximise our time and experience. Our next vlog series will focus on Joanneโ€™s choice of location, which may surprise you, but youโ€™ll have to wait for that one. We're never too old to keep exploring, so please join us.
