Welcome to Wellington, New Zealand! I am here for the day on the Norwegian Spirit during a 14-day cruise. This port was an unexpected addition to our itinerary but I'm so excited to be here in the capital of New Zealand! I've booked a tour through Viator to visit some of the famous filming locations in Lord of the Rings. Most of the movies were filmed here in New Zealand, and Peter Jackson, the director, is from Wellington! I booked this tour through Viator and had an amazing time. Our guide was an extra in all three movies and had tons of insider info and behind the scenes stories to share with us throughout the tour. We visited several film locations, including the Weta workshop which was SO cool and informative, we even got to hold and see tons of props from the movies! The weather was perfect for walking through the woods to see some of the notable and recognizable film locations from the movies. I got some great pictures and videos of this part of the tour. We ended the afternoon with an incredible view of the entire city at a lookout up on a high peak. I can't recommend this tour enough, it was fantastic!
