Join me on Day 13 of my 16-Day NCL Star South America & Antarctica solo cruise as I visit THOUSANDS of penguins at Volunteer Point in the Falkland Islands! Today was a dream - we trekked two and a half hours (most of which was off-roading) from Stanley, the capital of the Falkland Islands, to Volunteer Point, a location that can only be reached in a 4x4 vehicle or helicopter! There are no roads to get to this remote location, but once I arrived, I was greeted by more penguins than I could possibly count. Three different species: King Penguins, Gentoo Penguins and Magellanic Penguins (we've seen these before in an earlier vlog episode from this cruise!). The weather was beautiful and we were able to spend several hours walking around, coming within just a couple feet of the penguins! I do my best to give as many fun and interesting penguin facts as I experience this once in a lifetime journey. Once we get back to the port, there is a long line waiting for me to tender back to the NCL Star and we end up leaving port two hours late!
