WOW this was such a packed day in Halifax, and I loved every second! I tried to trim down this video as much as I could but there was just so much to share. I have to say, Peggy's Cove was one of my favorite places that I visited on this 7-day Canada & New England cruise on the Holland America Volendam. Such a wonderful little fishing village surrounded by miles and miles of sea and blue skies; absolutely beautiful. So idyllic and a wonderful way to pass time just taking in the scenic views and coastline. I wish we had been able to spend more time at Peggy's Cove but the tour I booked (see link below!) only allotted one hour for us to spend exploring the area. I would definitely come back and stay longer! Following Peggy's Cove, we visited the Fairview Lawn cemetery, which holds the remains of 121 victims recovered from the Titanic disaster, as Halifax is one of (if not THE) closes port to the site of the sinking. The area is a beautiful memorial to the victims, and although incredibly sad to hear so many tales of loss and despair, it is a stark reminder of how fallible man-made creations can be. The tour ended in the early afternoon and I made my way down to the waterfront along the harbor and enjoyed some time there and a delicious lunch on the river walk. After returning to the ship, I attempted to get some sun outdoors but it was COLD! So I headed back in to enjoy sail away views by a big window. The evening capped off with another bar hop, this time 4th of July themed - OH did I mention today is 4th of July? A USA holiday that the ship still very much celebrated despite the fact that our port today was in Canada! This bar hop was much more subdued and low key than the Orange Party version, but we all still had a wonderful time! Stay tuned for the next (and final!) episode of this series... Bar Harbor, Maine!
