In this episode, we pass through the impressive Gabcíkovo lock, the widest on the Danube, on our way to Bratislava. Join us on our exploration of the city which includes Bratislava's two Christmas Markets and a guided walking tour of the Old Town; highlights of which included historical figures as well as some interesting artful characters embedded (statues) into the very heart of the city. We end our visit in the main square, soaking up the festive atmosphere of the Christmas Markets, with sparkling lights, holiday music, and stalls filled with seasonal treats. In this series we visit: Budapest, Hungary We explore Budapest’s Christmas magic—savoring goulash and enjoying festive cheer at Vörösmarty Square and St. Stephen’s Basilica Christmas markets. Bratislava, Slovakia We wander Bratislava’s charming streets, visiting St. Martin’s Cathedral, Michael’s Gate, and Old Town Hall, while soaking up festive cheer at the city’s Main Square Christmas Markets. Vienna, Austria We explore Vienna on a walking tour, admiring St. Stephan’s Cathedral and Hofburg Palace, then embrace the holiday spirit at the sparkling Rathaus Christmas Market. Krems, Austria We stroll Krems’ quaint Christmas market, then sail through the stunning Wachau Valley, surrounded by vineyards, castles, and breathtaking scenery along the Danube’s winding path. Linz, Austria We discover Linz on a walking tour, exploring the Old Market, Mozart House, City Hall, and St. Mary’s Cathedral, before embracing holiday spirit at the Main Square Christmas Market with original festive offerings. Passau, Germany We visit Passau, admiring the baroque beauty of St. Stephen’s Cathedral and soaking up festive cheer at the local Christmas Market filled with seasonal treats, crafts, and holiday spirit.
