Creator's Key Takeaways

It was the best experience ever.

You're here for the elephants, not the accommodation.

It's an incredible place. I've never seen anywhere where you could interact with the elephants as much as we have here.

Everyone should come here once in a lifetime kind of deal.

Creator's Tips & Advice

Manage expectations: it's rustic, not a hotel.
Bring mosquito repellent and be prepared for bugs.
One or two nights is enough for the experience.
Be able-bodied for steep walks to some villas.

About our Bacon Score methodology
YouTube Video Description

Chai Lai is a very special place. It is a not for profit organisation designed to rescue Elephants but it also rescues Humans as well. They have 25 elephants within their grounds and none of them are wild. They have either been rescued from logging, tourism or the Circus and have the opportunity to live a life without pain or chains. Nearly all of the elephants are female and are rented by Chai Lai from the owners as Elephants are property just like a car or a house in Thailand. Some of the Staff at Chai Lai have also been rescued. Whether it is trafficking, war or the sex trade they bring staff into an 8 month training program that is designed to get them out of the cycle, pay them a living wage, provide skills and hopefully a better life. The charity is Daughers Rising and they aim to help many of the refugees fleeing war torn Myanmar. Their slogan of "no human is illegal" is a powerful one. Although you can visit and do a day trip from Chiang Mai we chose to stay for 3 nights on the Orchid side near to reception. You can also choose to be nearer to the river which is where the Elephants bathe daily. We had the opportunity for do a cooking class, Elephant experience, breakfast with Elephants and took part in Elephant happy hour. This is one of those places that everybody should come to once in their lives. https://daughtersrising.org/ https://chailaiorchid.com/ https://www.instagram.com/toon_photographer/ #chailaiorchid #daughtersrising #elephant #thailand #nohumanisillegal #chiangmai #thailandtravel #travel #globalnomadtravel #worldtraveller #worldtravel #slowtravel #digitalnomad #digitalnomadlife #retireearly #retireearlyandtravel #financialindependenceretireearly #digitalnomadlifestyle Video Chapters 00:00 Chai Lai Orchid 00:59 Leaving the Marriott Chiang Mai 02:07 Room tour Mountain 8 on the Orchid side 05:04 Elephant Happy Hour 08:05 In bed reviewing the day 10:38 Breakfast for the Humans 12:15 Breakfast for the Elephants 16:16 Cooking Class 18:46 Half day tour with our photographer Toon 23:18 What are the options for Elephants in Thailand 25:46 Chai Lai Orchid is a rustic resort 35:21 Daughtersrising and the purpose of Chai Lai Orchid 37:27 Supporting the Elephants 39:04 Elephants are Property in Thailand 40:37 Thanks for Watching Life is short, we intend to see everything we can while we are young….ish We are here for a good time, not a long time. https://www.facebook.com/GlobalNomads93/ https://www.instagram.com/globalnomads93?igsh=emg1ZzkybnJyOXZv Email: globalnomads93@gmail.com
