Nutmeg Notebook Live #128 hosted by Tami Kramer. An interview with Plant Based Dynamic Duo - Esther Loveridge and friend Al Schmidt. We have mentioned Al many times in the past in regard to his amazing heart health recover from adopting a plant based Lifestyle. We are glad to welcome him to our show today for a live discussion of his journey. Esther has been on our show previously with her husband Ben ( https://youtu.be/5j3RbH3H0GM ) and we are happy to welcome her back again to share her return to health journey. About Al Schmidt At 80 years old Al was told he had End Stage Coronary Artery Disease. If that sounds serious, it’s because it is. End Stage says it all. He was what Dr. Esselstyn calls a Cardiac Cripple, that is he was unable to do such normal activities such as walking or climbing stairs. He was reduced to sitting in front of either a computer or television. His lifespan was in months, not years. In the past he had 5 vessel bypass surgery, two heart attacks and three stints. As a last, and only, resort he changed his lifestyle and became Whole Food Plant Based, no Salt, no Oil, no Sugar. He now enjoys the following: Weight went from 180 to 137 (height is 5’11”). Cholesterol went from 250 to 118. More importantly his kidney function went from 40%, to normal. PSA went from 7 to 3.8. And the best from his perspective is that he can now enjoy all the actives that he used to. He walks a mile and a half every morning. He rides his E-bike three times a week for an hour, about 15/18 miles. Summer of 2021 he went to Utah with some Geologist friends. They hiked 3 miles and back to an open pit mine. The start of the trail was at 10,300 feet above sea level and the mine was at 11,000 feet. At 85 he was the oldest member of the crew. He will tell anyone who are interested, and even some who aren't, the benefits of Whole Food Plant Based no SOS lifestyle.
