Join us in Hellesylt and Geiranger as we celebrate Gavin's birthday! This is our third port of call onboard the beautiful P&O Iona as we set sail for a 7 night Norwegian Fjords. On the Norway Cruise we will call at Stavanger, Olden, Hellesylt for Geirangerfjord and Haugesund. In this episode, we arrive in the tiny village of Hellesylt, before taking the ferry through Geirangerfjord and over to Geiranger. The ferry (thefjords.no) runs several times a day and costs around Β£50pp for a return trip. As the first ferry was sold out (the ship uses the ferry for excursions), we booked on the next available one. Its a brilliant journey, lasting just over an hour and sails through Geirangerfjord (Geirangerfjorden) and past the Seven Sisters Waterfalls in to Geiranger. Here we had just over an hour to explore before getting the ferry back. Back onboard Luke had organised that P&O deliver canapΓ©s and champagne ready for when we returned to the ship, what a delicious treat! When Iona departed Hellesylt, we headed up on deck to see the spectacular views of the Norwegian Fjords - it really is stunning and a must see! As it was Gavin's birthday, we had a meal at P&O's fine dining restaurant, The Epicurean. Tonight's menu at The Epicurean was very special, only done once per cruise onboard Iona, it was check Kjartan Skjelde's six-course taster menu. This was some very good food! We finished the evening off in the Crows Nest for a few drinks - while we had all intention of going to the silent disco, we were tired after such a long day. It was such a perfect birthday - cruising the Norwegian fjords on P&O Iona really is the perfect way to spend a birthday! We hope you enjoy this episode, stay tuned as in the next one as we continue our P&O Iona Norwegian Fjords cruise. We paid Β£997pp for our P&O Norwegian Fjords cruise and booked with https://www.facebook.com/MartinsHolidayVillage/ - This was a Select fare and included Parking and Β£210 onboard credit. We also took out the P&O Ultimate Drinks Package for this cruise which costs Β£39.95pp, this was upgraded to the Deluxe package as P&O changed their packages, more info on the P&O Drinks packages can be found here:https://cruisemonkeys.com/2023/05/new-po-drinks-packages-explained/ About P&O Iona: P&O Iona was designed to invite the outdoors in. Gazing out from the stunning SkyDome, three-tier glass Grand Atrium or the brand-new Conservatory Mini-suite cabins, you're never far from a spectacular view of the ever-changing horizon on Iona's cruise holidays. We are bananas about cruising! We started cruising in 2014 by doing a mini cruise on P&O Aurora. Making videos of our cruises and sharing our experiences has become our hobby β the complete video is filmed and edited on an iPhone. The videos are our opinions and experiences while on board - really they are us having fun and brining you along with us! We may not be the youngest cruisers but we are trying to break the stereotype that cruising is for retired people. On a cruise you will normally find us wondering around the ship taking in the atmosphere (and working our way through the cocktails). We have sailed on P&O Cruises, Cunard Line, Princess Cruises, MSC Cruises, Royal Caribbean and Avalon Waterways. We'd love to try Ambassador Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), Fred Olsen, Holland America (HAL), Celebrity, Disney Cruises, Carnival Cruises, Costa, Aida, Marella and Celestyal. #cruisemonkeys #cruise #pandocruises #HelloIona #Iona #pandoiona #fjords #fjordnorway #fjordscruise #Hellesylt #geiranger #geirangerfjord
