We're about to cross the United States on a 4 Day Amtrak Sleeper Train from New York to Los Angeles! We started in New York City on the Lakeshore Limited. This route to Chicago traces its history to the New York Central Railroad, which started operating this route all the way back in 1897! We stayed in an older roomette on this leg, which included a crazy feature: An in room toilet! Even though we recommend you break your Amtrak Adventures up with overnight stays off the train, we booked our trip straight through. That meant we only have a four hour layover in the Windy City. So after a little bit of time exploring Chicago, we headed back to Union Station. We picked up the Southwest Chief where we stayed in another roomette! This train can track its heritage back to the old Super Chief line. That was the flagship train of the Acheson, Topeka and Santa Fe railway. It was once known as the train of the stars because it was the best way for Hollywood celebrities to get home from back east. In this video, we’ll show you some of the highlights and unforgettable moments that can only come from an Amtrak Adventure!
