Scrap Update about Carnival Fascination, a cruise ship that was sold by Carnival Cruise Line during the COVID-19 cruise shutdown. Carnival Fascination is a Fantasy Class cruise ship that entered service in 1994. Built in Finland, the ship joined the fleet as Fascination, and received the Carnival prefix in 2007. Carnival Fascination was laid up in early 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic gripped the world. While a number of Fantasy-class ships were sold for scrap in Turkey, Carnival Fascination was spared the scrappers torch, being sold to Century Harmony Cruise Line. Renamed Century Harmony, the ship was expected to become a hotel vessel in Asia. She was given a quick overhaul in Gibraltar in late 2020 before sailing to Qushan, China in anticipation for this new role. Here she underwent more refurbishment work at the Zhejiang Union Repair Shipbuilding yard. However, in October 2021, the former Carnival Cruise Line ship weighed anchor and sailed to Colombo in Sri Lanka. Simultaneously it was reported by various cruise and travel news sources that the ship has been sold for scrap at Alang, India. I’ve linked to some of these reports here: https://bit.ly/3CoC7cy (Tradewinds) and here: https://bit.ly/3nA9IKr (Cruise Hive). Colombo would make for a logical de-stoning destination en-route to Alang. The ship remains in Sir Lankan waters at the time this video was uploaded and you can keep track of her progress via Marine Tracker which you can find here: https://bit.ly/3ml6FpM -- Imagery: 1) Carnival Fascination - Jonathan Schilling - CC BY SA 3.0 - https://bit.ly/3Bh3cwZ 2) Nassau, Bahamas - Captain Tucker - CC BY SA 3.0 - https://bit.ly/3EnruHA 3) Fascination Funnel - Chris Gent - CC BY SA 2.0 - https://bit.ly/3EkSHuk 4) Carnival Fascination - Public Domain - https://bit.ly/3nAFPcN 5) Turkish Scrapyard - Angelgreat - CC BY SA 4.0 - https://bit.ly/3pZd1h9 6) Carnival Fascination - Chris Gent - CC BY SA 2.0 - https://bit.ly/3bnasMY 7) Carnival Fascination - Chrismschurz - CC BY SA 3.0 - https://bit.ly/3BoFD58 8) Carnival Fascination - TampAGS - CC BY SA 3.0 - https://bit.ly/3pJL0cZ 9) Carnival Fascination - Andrew Mawby - CC BY SA 2.0 - https://bit.ly/3mjb4K3 10) Fascination - Benoit Donne - CC BY SA 2.0 - https://bit.ly/3CmhUE4 -- Music: YouTube Audio Library -- #cruisenews #cruiseline #cruising
