I would say you can explore most of Bali in the southern part of the island around Kuta Legian and Uluwatu in 3 to 5 days but if you want to see Sanur, Seminyak and Canggu you will need more time. Mostly because Bali traffic can be quite dense. You can easily do these attractions on your own and don't need a guide but I would recommend a guide for first time visitors. Make sure you find a registered tour guide and company on the island. You can find the best Bali in Kuta, Nusa Dua, Seminyak and Uluwatu. The best food in Bali seems to be Nasi Goreng as it is the most popular with most locals.
