We were in Haines, Alaska for the day and decided to rent bicycles. We had walked about 5 miles in the morning through town and over to Mud Bay. The ship was not leaving for several hours (we were in port for 14 hours) so we rented the bikes. There are other places in town to rent bikes also. They were $20 US each for 4 hours. We rode about ten miles to Chilkoot Lake. It was mostly level with a total elevation gain of 340 feet. The scenery is truly majestic. It was a beautiful ride and not too difficult. The only problem was that as soon as we got to the lake we had to turn around and go back in order to return the bikes. Oh yeah, I also had a problem with my brakes. #haines #alaska #princesscruises #portmonkeys
