If you're looking for the best things to do in Bonn for a city break or you're planning a trip from nearby Cologne, this one day itinerary has everything you need to see sorted. Bonn is a beautiful city on the Rhine and as Germany's former capital, it's packed with incredible history. We spent a lot of time in the Haus der Geschichte, or House of History, which is a free museum that tells the story of modern Germany in a really engaging way. We also explored the area around the old federal government buildings and the UN Campus. Of course, no trip to Bonn is complete without a visit to the Haribo Store as it's the birthplace of the Goldbears! We also stopped by the Lindt chocolate shop for a sweet treat. In the city's Old Town, we explored the historic Marktplatz and saw the famous Beethoven House before browsing the gift shop. Bonn is incredibly easy to reach from Cologne by train and makes a fantastic day trip if you’re staying in the Rhine region. Whether you're into history, love sweets or just want to enjoy a picturesque riverside city it's well worth a visit!
