Carnival Encounter added a Thermal Suite during its recent dry dock — but without a hydrotherapy pool, many cruisers have questioned whether the pass is actually worth the money. In this video we take you through every part of the Thermal Suite and show exactly what you get, what’s new, and whether the upgrade delivers good value for Australian cruisers. The Thermal Suite isn’t a brand‑new build — it’s been created by repurposing part of the old Cloud 9 Spa treatment rooms. The original layout included a Tepidarium, heated loungers, a coloured‑light steam room, a very steamy traditional steam room, and two experience showers. There’s also a smaller ante room with a two‑person steam room and another experience shower. One of the biggest criticisms has been the lack of a hydrotherapy pool, which many Carnival fans expected. While the Thermal Suite itself doesn’t include one, Carnival now provides access to the exclusive Byron Beach Club, featuring a private swimming pool, two lightly‑used whirlpools, shaded seating, comfy lounges and its own bar. These areas are generally quiet — unlike the main pools and spas which can be crowded, especially during school holidays.
