Day 11 of our 16‑day Panama Canal cruise was the perfect mix of cozy, rainy sea‑day vibes and festive Halloween fun — all while the ship prepared for tomorrow’s big Panama Canal transit. The morning starts with a quiet walk around Deck 3 as heavy rain pours down and visibility drops so low you can’t even see the ocean from the balcony. While Sam works, Adam explores the ship and later attends a fascinating Panama wildlife seminar, learning about spider monkeys, sloths, blue‑footed boobies, and how Panama became a land bridge for so many species. By lunchtime, the rain clears and we grab a plate before the buffet closes — honey chicken, Mongolian beef, crab & shrimp wontons, salad, and cake. The seas calm, container ships pass by, and the ship slowly approaches Panama. Serenity Deck is nearly empty, giving us a peaceful spot to read, relax, and watch the officers prepare the decks for tomorrow’s canal transit. As evening rolls in, we skip the MDR and head to Lido Marketplace for dinner: venison, mahi with risotto, fried shrimp, beef cutlet, veggies, and the last two spaghetti‑and‑meatball servings. Afterward, we join the crowd for the Halloween costume contest, featuring everything from Loki and Beetlejuice to a Costa Rican butterfly, a piñata, and even Rock‑Paper‑Scissors. We wrap up the night with a windy deck walk, a new towel animal (bear? maybe?), and some quiet time in the cabin as we get ready for an early morning. Tomorrow is the Panama Canal transit, and we can’t wait to share the full experience. Thanks for sailing with us!
