Creator's Key Takeaways

Celebrity specialty restaurants might not be worth that. Not because they're bad, but because the included ones are much better, way more varied than on most mainstream cruise ships.

If berries are free-flowing on the cruise ship, the rest of the food is going to be good.

This was not the sushi you politely praise because you're on a cruise ship and the soy sauce is available. This was the sushi I would happily order and pay good money for on land.

Creator's Tips & Advice

Try the included restaurants first before committing to specialty dining as they are high quality.
Book Rooftop Garden Grill near sunset for the best experience.
Use the Spa Cafe for the best included coffee and fresh breakfast options.
Combine Spa Cafe coffee with free pastries from Cafe al Bacio to save money.

Is Celebrity Apex specialty dining actually worth the extra money—or is the complimentary food already good enough? In this complete Celebrity Apex dining review, I cover almost every included and specialty restaurant onboard, from the four main dining rooms and Oceanview Café buffet to Eden Restaurant, Raw on 5 and Fine Cut Steakhouse. Celebrity Cruises is often praised for having some of the best food in the mainstream and premium cruise market, but after trying so many restaurants on Celebrity Apex, I came away with a slightly controversial conclusion: the specialty restaurants are excellent, but they may not be necessary. Celebrity Apex already offers far more variety in its included dining than most comparable cruise ships. In this video, I review the four complimentary main dining rooms on Celebrity Apex: Normandie Restaurant – French-inspired dining, including duck, ravioli and foie gras Tuscan Restaurant – Italian-inspired food, including bruschetta, tomato soup, pasta and dessert Cosmopolitan Restaurant – contemporary international dishes in one of the ship’s principal dining rooms Cyprus Restaurant – Greek and Mediterranean-inspired food, including antipasti and fresh octopus I also cover the other complimentary food options across the ship: Oceanview Café – Celebrity Apex’s buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner Eden Café – avocado toast, salads, light lunches and desserts inside the beautiful Eden venue Spa Café – fresh berries, Greek yoghurt and lighter, healthier breakfast and lunch options Café al Bacio – Celebrity’s popular coffee and pastry café Mast Grill – casual outdoor food near the pool deck Main dining room breakfast Blu – the dedicated restaurant for AquaClass guests Luminae at The Retreat – the exclusive restaurant for Retreat suite guests Then we move to the paid restaurants and specialty dining on Celebrity Apex: Fine Cut Steakhouse – steak, crab cake, wild mushrooms, asparagus and cheesecake Raw on 5 – sushi, sashimi and seafood in one of the most intimate restaurants onboard Eden Restaurant – creative dishes including beetroot and goat cheese, seafood, crab cake, Thai-style fish and lemon tart Le Grand Bistro – Celebrity’s French-inspired specialty restaurant Le Petit Chef – the animated dining experience offered inside Le Grand Bistro Rooftop Garden Grill – open-air specialty dining near the Rooftop Garden Magic Carpet dining experiences – one of the most distinctive dining concepts found on Celebrity Edge-class ships This is a complete guide to Celebrity Apex food, restaurants, complimentary dining and specialty dining, including what is included in the cruise fare, which restaurants cost extra, what the atmosphere is like and whether the premium restaurants provide a meaningful improvement over Celebrity’s already impressive included food. Although this review was filmed on Celebrity Apex, much of the restaurant concept and dining experience is also relevant to other Celebrity Edge-class ships. So, does Celebrity Cruises really have better food than other mainstream cruise lines? Which Celebrity Apex restaurants are worth visiting? And should you pay extra for specialty dining—or save your money and enjoy the excellent complimentary options?
