Tips for packing ship carry on luggage (not for air travel). Hey Cruisers, it's Sheri from Cruise Tips TV with a special packing tips edition. We're often asked what to pack in your carry on bag for a cruise. This can be tricky, because you'll want to keep it light, but having some essentials at hand can add to your comfort on embarkation day since you may not have access to your cabin or luggage for several hours once you board. Here's what we recommend: You'll want your passport, credit cards, and Cruise docs in a very "easy access" spot since you'll need those first. Of course, your camera's, cell phone, and laptop are also great to keep close by during embarkation, and we usually pack ours in a well insulated electronics backpack and keep them very close by. Next, keep some cash handy for tipping luggage porters, bus drivers and anyone else that helps you out along the way. Pack your medications, toiletries and any essential items for your children, if they are traveling with you. We also like a change of clothes, and on warm weather cruises, our swimwear. You may also consider packing some beverages, if allowed by your cruisline. We like to take several large bottles of drinking water, some soft drinks, and the allowable carry on wine maximum, so we can have the a convenient homemade "minibar" in our stateroom. As a general rule of thumb, If you can't live without something for a day or two pack it in your carry-on and keep it with you. That's it for this episode.
