Cruise Stop JUNEAU: Explore Mendenhall Glacier on your own explains how to find an easy way to get to the Mendenhall Glacier with a local company. It was easy enough to find and book and the times were perfect for our 8 hour layover in Juneau. There is a public bus that goes to the Mendenhall Glacier, but we did not want to waste our day on a bus, so we opted to go with the Glacier Express and I explain exactly where it is and what to do in my video! The walk to the Glacier is very near the entrance to the park. It is probably about a half of a mile at most. Our hiking path to the waterfall was flooded out, so we only could view it from a distance, but what a BEAUTIFUL area. Juneau is a very scenic place. Bring your camera. I saw no taxis. Downtown has some good restaurants for crab and shopping for jewelry and miscellaneous crafts. It was cold, bring an umbrella and dress in layers!
