Desert Bound: Oxnard to Coachella & a Lakeside RV Retreat' From the cool, coastal breezes of Oxnard to the sun-baked, rhythmic pulse of Coachella, the drive is a journey of scenic contrasts. We made the trek, and it was a fantastic experience, capped off by a relaxing stay at Coachella Lakes RV Resort. The drive itself, roughly three hours (traffic depending!), is a visual feast. Leaving Oxnard, you'll initially cruise through familiar Ventura County landscapes: rolling hills, citrus groves, and that lingering scent of the Pacific. As you head inland, the terrain gradually shifts. The lush greenery gives way to the stark beauty of the desert. Interstate 10 becomes your main artery, a ribbon of asphalt stretching eastward. Keep an eye out for the windmill farms near Palm Springs – a mesmerizing spectacle of rotating giants against the arid backdrop. The mountains begin to rise, and the air gets noticeably warmer. It’s a tangible shift, a clear signal that you’re entering the Coachella Valley. Upon arriving in Coachella, my destination was Coachella Lakes RV Resort. It was a welcome oasis after the drive. Pulling into the resort, I was immediately struck by the tranquil atmosphere. The centerpiece is, of course, the lake, offering a shimmering, reflective surface amidst the desert landscape. The drive from Oxnard to Coachella is more than just getting from point A to point B; it’s a transition from coastal charm to desert serenity. And Coachella Lakes RV Resort provided the perfect base to explore the region, offering a relaxing escape in the heart of the Coachella Valley. Whether you're heading for the music festivals, exploring the desert, or simply seeking a peaceful getaway, this drive and this RV park are worth considering.
