Boise, Idaho had more than we expected! Restaurants, breweries, hikes and public parks were some of the best we have ever visited! We walk around the capitol building of Boise and were taken back on the beauty of the area. Clean and safe, this area was a pleasure to explore. Downtown Boise is home to Freak Alley Gallery; a showcase of some of the most gorgeous murals to be displayed on buildings. This was truly a great collection of artistic talent. We go to Boise Fry Co., Boise Brewery, Westside Drive-in, Barbarian Brewing and the Space bar for some of the best of the area. We want to show you a surprise when we get to Westside Drive-in made popular on Guy Fieri's Diner's, Drive-Ins and Dives. This tasty treat doesn't taste like it looks! The Basque block was a wonderful surprise. We tried some Basque food and grew a new appreciation for such a great people and culture showcased in that area of Boise. The Basque Block in Boise, Idaho, is a vibrant cultural district dedicated to celebrating the rich heritage of the Basque community, which has deep roots in the region. Located on Grove Street between Capitol Boulevard and 6th Street, it is a must-visit for anyone interested in Basque culture, food, and history. Basque Museum and Cultural Center This museum is the heart of the block, offering exhibits on Basque history, traditions, and immigration to the United States. It also features a preserved boarding house where many early Basque immigrants lived. Basque Market Known for its authentic Basque cuisine, this market offers delicious dishes like paella, croquetas, and pintxos. They often host cooking classes and wine tastings. Basque Center (Euzkaldunak, Inc.) A community hub that serves as a meeting place for events and gatherings. It plays a central role in keeping Basque traditions alive in Boise. Public Art and Architecture The block features murals, sculptures, and historic buildings that showcase Basque culture and influence. Festivals and Events - The San Inazio Festival (held in July) is a lively celebration with traditional Basque dancing, music, and food. - Every five years, Boise hosts the Jaialdi Festival, one of the largest Basque cultural festivals in the world. The Basque Block is a wonderful destination for a day of exploration, whether youβre sampling food, enjoying a cultural event, or simply soaking in the atmosphere of this unique neighborhood. Table Rock was a great hike to overlook downtown Boise and the old penitentiary. This four-mile hike to the cross on top was wonderful excursion just outside of the city. The Esther Simplot Park along the Boise River and the Greenbelt was an example of how a city should take advantage of green space and improve it so that the natural beauty and resources can be enjoyed by all. This was a great visit, and we will come back to visit Boise, Idaho again, but with more time to explore. We are Ron & Jodi; we want to share with you our RV travels in the Pacific Northwest. We RV up and down Washington and Oregon's scenic coastline and explore the east side of the Cascade Mountain Range enjoying the high desert. We have lots to show you around in our own backyard to include our national & state parks in Washington and Oregon. The best thing about owning an RV is that no matter where you go, you are always home. Still working full time and living residentially in the Pacific Northwest, we will take extended RV vacations outside the PNW. We have been to California and Nevada and have traveled east to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. When we take a break from the RV lifestyle we travel to beautiful Hawaii and hop aboard luxurious cruise ships destined for Alaska and the Caribbean. We take you on our vacations for an immersive travel experience. There are many videos to watch and help you decide how to spend your time in the PNW and beyond!
