Creator's Key Takeaways

When you fly in the morning of your cruise, grab an Uber, get to the port, and leave. You miss the city.

I spent months planning this cruise, picking the cabin, watching videos about the ship, talking about everything Noah and I wanted to do once we got on board.

It looked ridiculous, but I'd order another one tomorrow.

I realized the cruise hadn't started this trip. It was just part of the next chapter.

Creator's Tips & Advice

Fly into your departure city a couple of days before your cruise starts to experience the local culture and avoid airline issues.

About our Bacon Score methodology
YouTube Video Description

Grand Princess Cruise | San Juan Puerto Rico | Old San Juan | El Morro | Things to Do Before Your Cruise I spent months planning our Grand Princess cruise. Picking the cabin, watching videos about the ship, and talking about everything Noah and I wanted to do once we got onboard. I barely gave San Juan a second thought. That turned out to be a mistake. Flying into San Juan, Puerto Rico a couple of days before our cruise ended up being one of the best decisions we made. From exploring Castillo San Felipe del Morro (El Morro) and wandering the colorful streets of Old San Juan to experiencing the city as it prepared for SanSe (Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián), trying unforgettable Puerto Rican food, and discovering the energy of San Juan after dark, this became so much more than the place our cruise happened to leave from. This wasn't supposed to be the vacation. It was just where the cruise started. At least... that's what I thought. If you're cruising from San Juan, don't make the same mistake I almost did. Give yourself a couple of extra days. I think you'll be surprised by just how much this incredible city has to offer. Question of the Day Do you usually fly in early before your cruise, or are you a day-of embarkation traveler? If you've been to San Juan, what was your favorite part of the city?
