Join us as our South Pacific cruise calls at the beautiful port of **Noumea, New Caledonia**, where we embark on a Princess Cruises excursion to the stunning **Duck Island (Îlot Canard)**. What should have been a relaxing day of swimming and snorkelling quickly became a test of our nerves after we learned about recent shark attacks in the area. With plenty of hesitation, we board a zodiac boat for the short trip across to Duck Island, claim our sunbeds, and set off to explore this tiny tropical paradise. The crystal-clear water and vibrant coral reef are simply irresistible—but can we overcome our fears and get in? In the end, we decide to take the plunge... and we're rewarded with an incredible snorkelling experience. Colourful tropical fish, healthy coral, and an abundance of marine life make this one of the highlights of our South Pacific cruise. Even so, the thought of an unexpected shark encounter is never far from our minds! Was the risk worth the reward?
