Covid brought the cruise industry to its knees, but it's fought back and with growing demand the ports are once again full. On Easter Sunday 2022, April 17th, the Port in Ft. Lauderdale was filled with cruise ships as the Florida beaches were filled with families enjoying the holiday. I took the opportunity to go to the Dania Beach Pier to the south of Port Everglades to watch the departures. In addition to the ships in port the Celebrity Infinity was waiting off shore since she hasn't set sail yet and was preparing for a repositioning voyage to begin future cruises. With four ships scheduled to depart, all were to leave at 4 PM except the Odyssey of the Seas scheduled for 5 PM. They were each delayed though with the Celebrity Edge being the first to depart at 4:30 PM followed by the Nieuw Statendam at 5:20, the Odyssey of the Seas at 5:30, and the ms Rotterdam following her out a full 90 minutes after the scheduled time.
