This is a short video on how to get to Magen's Bay in St. Thomas on your own. It's very easy because so many cruise passengers do it. There are shuttle buses (or taxis) waiting at the foot of the dock. The cost is $8 US per person each way, plus $5 entry into Magen's Bay. For a total of $21 US p/p. The ships usually get around $49 for a tour like this. The ship tours usually include a stop in the town of Charlotte Amelie for shopping. There is a large shopping area a short walking distance from the ships at the Havensight Mall. Charlotte Amelie is about 1.5 miles (2.5 km) from the ships. Magen's bay has been called one of the world's most beautiful beaches. It was pretty nice when we went, but it rained for part of the time we were there. It is about 3/4 mile in length. The water is clear (not as clear as some other places in the Caribbean) and warm. We found the snorkeling to be less than good. Not a lot to see but large schools of small fish. But it's a nice beach and should be seen. We were there on the NCL Epic in January of 2017.
