Skip the expensive cruise excursions! In today’s vlog, we are showing you how to do a completely DIY beach day in Grand Cayman while sailing on Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas. From navigating the tender process to catching the local bus, we’ll show you exactly how easy (and cheap!) it is to get to the world-famous Seven Mile Beach on your own. If you want to maximize your cruise port day without spending a fortune, this Grand Cayman beach hack is for you! 🏝️🚌 👇 HOW TO USE THE GRAND CAYMAN PUBLIC BUS TO SEVEN MILE BEACH 👇 Taking the local bus in Grand Cayman is safe, reliable, and incredibly budget-friendly. Here is exactly how to do it: Exit the Cruise Terminal: Once your tender boat drops you off at the George Town Cruise Port, exit the gates and walk across the street towards the Milano jewelers and flag down a labeled public bus. They look more like vans. Look for the Route Color: Look for mini-buses with a Yellow or Lime Green circular sticker on the front/back. These buses run directly up and down West Bay Road along Seven Mile Beach. Hop On & Tell the Driver: Let the driver know which beach access spot you want to go to (such as Governor's Beach, Public Beach, or Coral Beach). We go to Governor’s Beach. Paying the Fare: The cost is only $2.50 USD (or $2.00 KYD) per person, each way. You pay the driver when you get off the bus. (Pro-tip: Bring small USD bills, as they accept US currency but will give change in Cayman Island dollars). Getting Back to the Ship: When you are ready to return, simply walk back out to West Bay Road, cross the street and stand on the side of the street heading south toward George Town, and wave your hand when you see a yellow or green route bus approaching. They pass by every few minutes! Have you ever taken local transit on a cruise day?
