Head “Back! Over the Falls” on Maelstrom - #ThrowbackThursday | EPCOT

Maelstrom was a log flume dark ride located in the Norway pavilion in EPCOT at Walt Disney World Resort. Let’s ~hop~ back over the falls and find peril and adventure on Maelstrom! Maelstrom opened July 5, 1988, in the Norway pavilion in EPCOT at Walt Disney World Resort. Guests rode in boats modeled after Viking ships as they passed by scenes of seafarers and maritime villages. Then, guests came face-to-face with angry Norwegian trolls who cast a spell on the boat, sending it backward. The boat spun around again before making a 28-foot drop into the North Sea. At the end of the ride, guests could watch a film featuring Norway's landmarks. Maelstrom's final day of operation was October 5, 2014.
