Subscribe to the Eat Sleep Cruise YouTube Channel if you love to travel and cruise the world! https://www.youtube.com/c/EatSleepCruise1?sub_confirmation=1 If you have a cancelled cruise due to the current cruise suspension, you might be wondering how to handle the reservation. Most cruise lines are giving travelers two options when it comes to impacted voyages. So, we take a look at the pros and cons of taking a future cruise credit or a cash refund in our latest video. If you enjoy the video, please make sure to give it a BIG THUMBS UP! For those who do not know what a future cruise credit is, it is essentially a gift card. The cruise line issues this credit that can be used towards the purchase of a future cruise. The other option for a cancelled cruise due to the health crisis is to receive a cash refund. This refund will be applied to your original payment method. The benefit of the future cruise credit is receiving bonus funds and additional credit to your account. Most cruise lines are giving individuals an extra 25% (based on cruise fare) that can be applied to a cruise reservation. This is like free money that can be used not only for a reservation, but for pre-cruise and onboard purchases through the cruise line. This includes drink packages, shore excursions, specialty dining, etc. Given the current circumstances around the globe, some cruisers might feel more comfortable having thousands of dollars back in their pockets that can be used for other purposes. Most cruise lines are issuing FCC's automatically, so you will need to fill out online forms if you want to request a refund. When comparing a future cruise credit to a refund, there are several factors you need to consider. First, you need to think about your willingness to travel again, once the cruise suspension is lifted. Also, will you be able to get time off from work in the next 18 months to travel? Financial, economic, and health considerations are different for all individuals. So, you need to weigh all of the options for your unique situation to decide if a refund or future cruise credit is right for you. Along with breaking down the pros and cons of each option, we share what we decided to do for our cancelled cruise this month.
