Three giant cruise ships were moored in Southampton Docks on Saturday 28th May 2011. The weather was terrible, high winds and heavy rain - difficult conditions for any vessel. Despite this, all three managed to depart safetly on their seperate voyages. The first to depart was 'Royal Caribbean International's M/S "Independence of the Seas" from Berth 101/The 'City Cruise Terminal'. The wind was so strong that the sound of her horn could hardly be heard. Next went 'Princess Cruises' M/S "Grand Princess" from Berth 106/The 'Mayflower Cruise Terminal', who had to turn around before making her way down the River Test. Finally, 'P&O Cruises' M/S "Azura" reversed out of Berth 46/The 'Ocean Cruise Terminal' before turning and making her way after the other two. Both "Azura" and "Grand Princess" were going on similar cruises to the Norwegian Fjords and would be back in together the following Saturday along with three other ships.
