#JapanTravel #ShimizuJapan #TravelVlog In this Japan travel vlog series, we explore Japan with our child — discovering Kyoto, Tokyo, Osaka, Kobe, Okinawa and more while traveling by Shinkansen, trying Japanese food like ramen and sushi, and experiencing traditional culture including kimono, tea ceremony and sumo shows. Shimizu!! Wake up, step onto the balcony… and Mount Fuji appears right in front of you. In this Japan travel vlog we explore Shimizu — a peaceful port town famous for bluefin tuna, stunning Fuji views, traditional tea culture, and hidden gems perfect for cruise passengers or anyone visiting Shimizu in one day. This episode begins with an unforgettable morning view of Mount Fuji, Japan’s highest peak — still an active volcano whose last eruption happened in seventeen oh seven. Because Fuji often hides behind clouds, moments like this feel truly special. Shimizu is one of Japan’s largest tuna ports, known for maguro and authentic local atmosphere far from the crowds of Tokyo. If you are arriving by cruise ship or planning a short stop, we share ideas on what to do in Shimizu, including Miho no Matsubara — a breathtaking pine grove with over thirty thousand trees where you can capture iconic views of Fuji, the beach, and the sea. What started as a quick visit turned into a deep cultural experience at Shimizu Port Memorial Hall Suehiro — a small maritime museum connected to the history of the port. There we discovered stories about the region’s first English school by the entrepreneur and philanthropist Shimizu Jirocho, who believed local people needed foreign languages to communicate with international traders. Our short stop became a traditional matcha tea ceremony — chanoyu — complete with wagashi sweets. The Shimizu and Shizuoka region is famous for green tea thanks to ocean air, volcanic soil, and water flowing from the slopes of Mount Fuji. We also talk about traditional Japanese interiors — tatami rooms, sliding shōji panels, minimal design, and the philosophy that fewer things create more peace. Experiencing this calm space with an energetic nine-year-old added a bit of humor to the moment. After leaving Suehiro, we rushed toward another Shinkansen adventure on our way to Kyoto. This time, TRIPelers versus Shinkansen ended in a draw — one to one. The biggest surprise on board? Silence. Nearly two hours of calm, respect, and a culture that feels like another world. 📍 If you are planning a cruise stop, a Fuji day trip, or wondering what to see in Shimizu in one day — this vlog will give you inspiration, travel tips, and real impressions from the journey. Next stop: Kyoto — the former capital of Japan, full of history and magic.
