Juneau Excursion: Alaska Whales and Science Adventure

During our June 15-22, 2026, Alaskan Cruise on the Disney Wonder we booked excursions directly through Disney. In Juneau we booked JU33, Alaska Whales and Science Adventure. The company leading the excursion was Gastineau Guiding. My family had a great time! The group of about 20 met on the ship and were led out to a small bus. On the bus we were told what we would be doing and shown short clips. Once at the marina we saw several bald eagles before even boarding the boat. The boat was great with windows that opened completely meaning that every person could get an unobstructed view. Before looking for whales, we visited a crab pot that the kids pulled up and inventoried what was inside of it. Ours had lots of sea urchins. They were counted and released. We then went to see whales and saw lots. After returning to the marina, it was short drive to the Mendenhall Glacier Recreation Area. We took a short walk to where the kids could take a water sample and then walked further to where we could see the glacier. After walking another short trail or two we boarded the bus to return to Juneau.
